It’s no secret that the key to a successful company is the team behind it. With most of us in the office for upwards of 40 hours a week, it’s important to establish a supportive, welcoming, and high-spirited environment early on. If people spend half of their life in their workplace, why wouldn’t you want to turn it into a place of absolute enjoyment and offer purpose and positive thinking to your staff members?
As a new company, many assume our rapid growth was purely down to hard-work and luck, when in truth, whilst both those points play their roles, our biggest power is advocating the importance of celebrating employee success and ensuring job satisfaction throughout the office. If people are buzzing every day and feel excited to come into work, it creates an upwards spiral for both them and the company.
Before launching Intrepid Global, its co-founders Anthony and Nicholas felt they had hit ceilings in their respective roles and shared a vision to create a company where its employees didn’t feel that they had to be CEOs in order to experience job satisfaction and opportunities for career growth. Although still young, they have stood by those morals, creating a company culture that has seen our team more than quadruple since 2020, with plans to grow even further.
There are plenty of studies that show the happier and more satisfied an employee is in their job, the more productive they will be and the more likely they are to go above and beyond their expected duties. Our team are our advocates, so having them come into the office with a positive attitude, not only becomes evident in the work they do, but reflects back on the company as well. If you invest into your employees, not only will you see longevity within their roles, but a return on investment for you as well by retaining top talent. By reducing employee turnover, you’re creating a community and team-like environment at work where people can reach their full potential, helping the business to operate smoother and to a higher standard.
Here are a few things we do to ensure our employees are happy and satisfied. By no means is this finalized, but if you’re looking for ways to establish a strong company culture, this could be a good place to start:
The importance of individuals finding their flow: giving employees encouragement and recognizing their achievements is important in their future success within the company
Team spirit: everyone should root for their colleagues. If they win, everyone wins
Plan exciting activities: at least once a month, we have either an office event or group outing. This gives everyone something to look forward to and promotes further bonding with each other.
Give employees the credit they deserve: if your employee is working above their paygrade, recognize that and give them a pay rise. It’s important to compensate workers with a fair salary that is at least on par with industry rates.
Set up rewards and incentives: we have three yearly targets, each with an extravagant reward for being reached. We also have employee of the week, employee of the month, and a rewards spin wheel.
Be flexible: everyone has priorities outside of the office. If the pandemic has taught us anything, its that working from home has its benefits and is equally as productive as being in the office.
Rapid growth and success isn’t born from luck, its by implementing the correct foundations early on to attract the right employees who share the same vision. If you get the right people in from the start, and show them the respect and gratitude they deserve, you’ll find your company flourishes alongside them.
